Vijay Music Awards which was held in Chennai at the Nehru Stadium on the 11th of May, saw many celebrities from the tinsel town.
Kamal Hassan who graced the mega event, which is the first event, after Vijay TV's successful Vijay Awards which has been conducted for three years now.
Vijay Music awards will give away awards to technicians who were behind the successful films that were released in the year 2010 and honor the talented people who had been contributing in the field of music.
Popularity Awards
* Popular Song of the year 2010 was given to ‘Kilimanjaro song from the film Enthiran composed by A.R.Rahman.
* Popular Male Singer 2010 was given to Playback singer Karthik for Usurae Poguthae from the film Mani Ratnam directed movie Ravannan.
* Popular Song of Masses went to Kadhal Vandhalae from Singam composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
* Popular Album of the year 2010 was given to A.R.Rahman’s musical Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.
* Popular Duet of the year 2010 went for ‘Adada mazhaida’ from the film Paiya, Saindhavi and Rahul Nambiyar, which was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
* Popular Melody of the year 2010 was bagged by the song 'Thuli Thuli' from Paiya again from Yuvan's composition.
* Yuvan Shankar Raja also won Popular Song sung by a Music Director of the year 2010 – En Kadhal solla from the film Paiya.

* Best Male Singer award - Vijay Prakash for 'Hosanna' song from Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.
* Best Female Singer awards - Shreya Goshal and Andrea Jermiah for Mannipaya (Vinnaithandi Varuvaya & Maalai Neram (Aayirathil Oruvan)
* Best Music Director Award - A.R.Rahman for Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.
* The Lyricist with the most number of hits 2010 was bagged by Na. Muthukumar.
* Best Lyricist Award and the Best Song sung by an actor - Kamal Haasan for Manmadhan Ambu 'Neela Vaanam'
* Best Debut Music Director - Kannan for Thamizh Padam.
* Best Sound Mixing 2010 – KJ Singh, Deepak.P.A and Resul pookutty for Enthiran.
* Best Folk Song - Jilla Vittu from Eesan.
Special Jury Awards
* Evergreen Voice Award - Dr. K.J.Yesudas
* Isai Chakravarthi Award - M.S.Viswanathan for his Outstanding Contribution to the Music Industry Global Indian Award - A.R.Rahman for his Outstanding Contribution to the Music Industry.

This awards ceremony will be aired in two parts on Vijay TV on the 27th and 28th of May, which falls on Friday & Saturday at 7pm.
